We know that soft drinks are bad for us – but what we perhaps don’t realise – or conveniently dont consider is that many ‘healthy’ juices are also bad for us – loaded with sugar or sweeteners and preservatives. The more you look at the labels – the more you realise how common these ingredients are. Yet the healthy alternative – drinking water – doesn’t have nearly the same appeal. Replacing sweetened drinks with plain water can be a shock to the senses at first – especially if you’ve grown accustomed to the sweetened flavour. Here are a few of our favourite recipes to perk up the flavour and help replace the sugar dependence.
Whats more – drinks containing fruits such as apples, strawberries, oranges, limes and grapefruits – all contain small amounts of pectin – which is itself an appetite suppressant.
Here are Some Great Ways to Add some Flavour to Perk up Your Drinking Water
- Lime and Basil
- Watermelon & Mint
- Cucumber and Mint
- Grapefruit
- Pineapple and ginger
- Cucumber and lemon grass
- Cantaloupe Melon
- Apple, Cinnamom and vanilla
- Lemon and Mint: A simple glass of water with a fresh slice of lemon is a recipe for successful weight loss because the pectin in lemons helps reduce food cravings.
- Carbonated Water: Not for everyone – but I really love my sparkling water. You can either load up on sparkling water at the supermarket – or use a soda stream to carbonate your water at home.
